For the A and B racers are here . We don't publish "C" as this is a training clinic and the levels of ability are too varied for results to have meaning.

2014 CXpreX Dates

CXpreX is back for the 2014 Cyclo-Cross Season.

We’ve almost completed the permitting process with the City of Ann Arbor Parks & Rec department and USAC Cycling. The website and Facebook pages will be updated soon.

We have a great list of sponsors and a good supply of donations for the post clinic raffles. Now all we need is you and some mud and we’re ready to get “leg’s and lungs ripped for cross”.

The session dates, locations and times are:

August 14            Leslie Park           5:45 PM
August 21            Leslie Park           5:45 PM
August 28            Leslie Park           5:45 PM
September 4       Buhr Park            5:45 PM

Leslie Park is accessed via Leslie Park Circle. Leslie Park Circle is on the south side of Dhu Varren Rd. between Pontiac Trail and Nixon Rds. In Ann Arbor.  The Buhr Park location is behind the Cobblestone Farm buildings, past the pools. Use Packard Rd. to get there.

It’s time to get your bike to the shop for pre-season tune-up. We’d suggest one of our sponsoring bike shops, Aberdeen Bike and Outdoors, Tree Fort Bikes, Two Wheel Tango, Sic Transit Cycles and Wheels in Motion.

Pre-registration will be available soon at www.usacycling.org search for CXpreX.

We’re expecting a great fall season, come on out.

Results CXpreX #3

Disclaimer
There was some confusion with results, since some finishers may not have crossed the line at the end, or there were other complications along the way (keeping track of the Beeeezzz below the top 10 or so was a challenge). Go ahead, scream and yell if your name isn't where it's supposed to be. We hear you. To paraphrase Donkey in Shrek, you need a hug.

You Done Well
All that said, if you got out there and toughed it out on that course set up by Rich, you did a great job in our book no matter where you placed.

Go Forth and Rip it Up
It was a fun series of clinics and we hope you're either more educated and enthused about CX, and/or you'll take these skills and tear into the coming season with vigor.

Below are the order of finishers in each category.

Wimminnnn... (4 entrants)
Jen Conine
Wendy Caldwell
Nina White
Alicia George

Aiiiiizzzz... (7 entrants)
Rodger Bowser
Adam Kaye
Rich Stark
Tom Barrett
Raymond Auger
Ken O'Day
Kevin McGrew

Beeeezzzz... (26 entrants + 1 interloper/director who snuck in a couple of laps)
Nate Kearns
Harvey Elliott
Lucas Wall
Derek Gibbs
Paul Steigerwald (consistency award: 5th in all three races)
Ryan Hebert
Chris Winkler
Kenneth Jackson
Brian Pirrie
Zachary Benet

Results CXpreX #2 2012

Rich leads a clinic in the background, while Rodger shares some of his CX strategies in the foreground at CXpreX #2.

Beeezzzz
Talbot Hack
David Bothner (on a belt-drive single-speed!)
Nate Kearns
Lucas Wall
Paul Steigerwald

Wimminnnnn
Gabriella Sterne
Jen Conine

Aiiiiiiiizzzzz
Rodger Bowser
Rich Stark
Tom Barrett
David Chalenski
Ken O'Day

There was some great racing at #2. In the Beezzz it was Talbot Hack ripping up the pack by a sizable margin, David Bothner and Nate Kearns sliding by a charging Lucas Wall after Lucas took a tumble in one of the final off-camber turns, and Paul Steigerwald standing guard over the fifth spot he took last week.

With a new Wimminnn's group this week, the appearance of Gabriella Sterne and Jen Conine showed that we have some great women riders in the area mashing it out strongly in the Beeezzz.

Some of last week's Beeezzz breathed deep with the Aiiiiizzzz this week. The drama started early when last week's winner, Rich Stark, dropped a chain on the first lap, leaving him way off the back in the early going. As usual, he used his single-speed savvy to reel in everyone but Rodger by the end. Tom Barrett moved up a spot from last week, David Chalenski's first effort as an Aiiiiii paid off with a forth place finish, and Ken O'Day kept his pace steady and even for another fifth place.

What will next week at Leslie Park bring? Come on out and join in the thrills. The regular season gets under way at a Cannonsburg night race tonight and at Ithaca tomorrow.
