It's the Last One for 2015
As you know Thursday 9/3 is the last session of CXpreX for 2015. This year has been a blast! Thank you all for volunteering, for riding and for supporting CXpreX.
We'd like to invite you to an End Of Series Party! We'll meet in the Gulo Room at Wolverine State Brewing Company after we close down CXpreX #4. Come over, bring your # plate and get a discount on beverages, hang with the cool CX Racers, look at pics from the series and if we can figure out how to connect a laptop to the WSBC Video screens we'll watch For the Love of Mud.

We could use a bit of help this week with registration. 2 people would be great! We could also use some early arrivals to help set the course, our Tuesday exploration has come up with a great CX course. We'll start setting the course @ 4 come on out if you can.

Week #2 Results
What a great session last night, a great course, some super clinics and a good crowd. Aand we didn't get wet. Thanks to all that came out to play.
A huge THANKS to the volunteers and our sponsors; Morgan and York, Wheels in Motion, Aberdeen Bike and Outdoors, pedalgood.com, Tree Fort Bikes, Wolverine State Brewing Company, fitmi!, Alma Grand Prix of Cyclocross, Tailwinds Racing and the Ann Arbor Velo Club. Without you we couldn't do what we do.
Don't forget the Alma Grand Prix of Cyclocross is hosting a 'Cross clinic on Tuesday, September 8! Chris Aitken, Jack Hogan, Tom Chapman, and Josie Simpson will be leading a clinic on the Alma cyclocross course! If you're planning on racing @ Alma here's a great way to learn the course and get some pre-race practice laps. For more info go to Alma Grand Prix of Cyclocross
Here's the results for the A's and B's. We know the C's and Jr's went out hard and fast. We don't report the results for the you because this event is supposed to be about learning and practice. The harsh reality of racing for results will come crashing down on you soon enough.
Remember next week is at LESLIE Park, off DhuVarren Rd.

Week #1 Results
Week One Results for the A and B catagories. We don't publish C and Junior results. We feel that CXpreX is a learning experience and that publishing results puts pressure in the wrong place. We want you to to practice what you learn at these races and not just go all out to get the W. When the race season starts you should have a solid base of knowledge and experience and then you can go out and feel confident in your abilities and skills.

Pre Registration opens Friday July 31 @ Noon.
Signing up for the series is a great way to go. Series registration will get you one week at no charge or a 25% discount, depending on your particular point of view.
CXpreX Series RegistrationIf you can't commit to the entire series you can still register for individual sessions. The weekly session registration page(s) are here:
Week 1 @ Hunt Park
Week 2 @ Hunt Park
Week 3 @ Leslie Park
The Grand Finale Week 4 @ Leslie Park
When you're on the page you'll need to select a category. Your choices are A, B, C, or Junior.
The "A" group is designed for experienced racers who can go for a minimum of 40 minutes @ CXpreX and for 60 minutes in actual races. The sessions are to help these racers "tweak" their technique and race strategies to be more competitive. You will generally be racing in a Cat 1,2, or 3 'Cross Race
The "B" group is for the up and coming 'Cross racer. Perhaps a bit less skilled that the "A" group, but with some racing "chops". This is the group for you if you have racing experience and solid basic skills but want to learn and practice advanced techniques and race strategies. Your points series races are in the 30-40 minute range. You will generally be racing in the Cat 3 or 4 'Cross race.
The "C" group is for the new "Cross racer. Over the last 4 years of CXpreX we've learned how to teach the skills required to be a successful 'Cross racer. You will generally be racing in a Cat 5 or 4 race.
This year we've formalized the lessons we've learned to get up to speed (see what i did there) more efficiently. Each week we'll focus on 2-3 specific skills with a discussion/demonstration of the skills for that week, some practice time followed by a practice race and then post race we'll go over what we've learned.
- Week 1 we'll cover: Basic Racing Skills and the Cyclocross mount and dismount
- Week 2 will include a review of Week 1 and we will start with how to run barriers, ways to shoulder the bike and a tech talk about tires, wheels and tire pressures.
- Week 3 will review the previous weeks and we'll add in how to safely corner your bike at high speeds and talk about 'cross specific handling skills and what to do before your race starts
- Week 4 Finals Week! Here's where you get to show us what you've learned. We'll review all of the skills from the past 3 weeks and cover what to do on race day.
All sessions and Cat start @ 5:45

CXpreX III Pics, Results and location change 8.28.14
A huge Thanks to Rob Pulcipher!
For the complete series of pics from CXpreX III, Thursday, August 28, 2014. There are some great photo's in there. I'm particularly fond of the guy on the Single Speed and flip-flops pre-riding the course!
| We're done with you. YES! |
What a great course! Thanks Guys
And a 3rd huge Thanks to our sponsors. Without the support of these companies CXpreX wouldn't exist. Here's the list: Aberdeen Bike and Outdoors, Ann Arbor Parks and Rec, DeVelo Coaching, Dirt Road Washtenaw, Morgan and York, Sic Transit Cycles, Tailwinds Racing, Tree Fort Bikes, Two Wheel Tango, Wheels In Motion, Wolverine Brewing, & Zingermans Deli. Please stop in an say Thanks to the sponsors and if you feel like spend some cash with them that would be awesome.
I know, I know this is sounding like an Oscars speech, and you didn't even get to walk the red carpet. But without the volunteers this event wouldn't happen. There are too many to mention by name, I'm grateful for the help and effort they put in. Thanks All!
And finally a huge Thanks to the riders. Without you men and women CXpreX wouldn't be the blast that it is. Thank you so much for coming out and riding your bikes. We hope you learn something every week and that you have a ton o' fun doing it.
And now the part you've been waiting for,
